I didn't notice the notification, so I only realised I was up a few hours ago when Hanni reminded me. I'm busy the rest of the day but the turn will definitely be up this time tomorrow.

"They take me for a fool! A bloody fool!" Maurice Fitzgerald muttered. The scout that just brought his report was quickly sent out by the Lord's advisors. "Not just one hidden army, mind you, but two!". Maurice had never been all that pleased with being assigned the command of England's Irish territories - hopeless pile of savage garbage, that country was. In a way, he was quite pleased when the King sent for him, telling him the Crown agreed to an Irish ultimatum to leave the island in a year's time, to avoid war and the waste of English resources. A year. That seemed fine, no? A fair deal for both sides? Favouring the Irish, if anything?
Maurice would have agreed. As would anyone he had spoken to about the matter, including even the occasional Irishman. It was a concession, sure, but one made with their heads held up high, leaving Ireland not out of fear, but out of strategic reasoning. The Irish ought to have thanked Heaven above for this peaceful resolution. They would have to be foolish to do anything endangering it, wouldn't they?
Such was Maurice's reasoning. That made him all the more surprised, nay, offended, when in a mere two days time no less than three scouts came to him reporting Irish intrusions. Two hidden armies, and even an assassin, for God's sake. Now, Maurice wasn't one for reckless, unreasonable acts - never did he consider himself an impulsive man. But this was a transgression, a blatant insult, of truly appalling proportions. The Irish had spit in the King's very face, and who offends the King offends all good Englishmen.
Ignoring his concerned advisors, Maurice instructed the English garrisons close to these intruders to send them back whence they came. Moreover, he had some of his levy troops patrol the road to Dublin, ensuring the murderer would be... held up, trying to reach the city. Finally, he instructed a messenger to anon report to the Irish court that, following their shocking disregard of and disrespect for England's territorial integrity, England's ownership of her Irish territories would be prolonged by a year [a turn]. A year, and not a day less. The King's honour was non-negotiable.
Maurice might not have been the greatest admirer of Ireland's weather or cities, but he was of England. And her reputation and honour were on the line now. "The Irish better restrain themselves", he thought, "or war might well be looming".
